Service Description
Our 4-Week Start to Spin course is designed to give beginners the instruction AND practice time needed to start feeling confident on the wheel. Over four consecutive Tuesday evening classes at 6 PM, you'll learn the foundations of wheel throwing from start to finish, including centering, creating forms, trimming, adding details and glazing your finished pottery. And now, your course includes even more time at the wheel! NEW: WEEKLY OPEN STUDIO PRACTICE In addition to your four instructor-led classes, Start to Spin students may attend one 2-hour Open Studio practice session each week during their four-week course. Use this time to practice what you learned in class, spend more time at the wheel and build confidence between lessons. Clay for Open Studio practice is available for purchase at the studio. Open Studio is independent practice time rather than additional instruction. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN ๐ Week 1: Centering clay and the foundations of throwing ๐บ Week 2: Throwing forms and creating different shapes โ๏ธ Week 3: Trimming, finishing and attaching elements ๐จ Week 4: Glazing and decorating your finished pottery WHAT'S INCLUDED โ๏ธ Four 2-hour instructor-led classes โ๏ธ One 2-hour Open Studio practice session each week during your course โ๏ธ Up to 16 hours of studio time throughout the four weeks โ๏ธ Clay for your instructor-led classes โ๏ธ Studio tools and equipment โ๏ธ Bisque and glaze firings for class pieces โ๏ธ Access to our studio dipping glazes No prior pottery experience is needed. This course is designed for adults who want to develop a real foundation in ceramics in a relaxed, supportive studio environment. Start to Spin also prepares you to continue creating independently and serves as a pathway into our monthly studio membership. Ages 16+. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations must be made at least 7 days prior to the first day of class to receive a full refund, minus a $25 administrative fee. Cancellations made within 7 days of the class start date are non-refundable, unless we are able to fill your spot from the waitlist. We appreciate your understanding as supplies, staffing, and materials are prepared in advance for each potter.
